The Device Donation Project is an initiative of Future Bridge Tech Foundation designed to help reduce the digital device gap by mobilizing usable computers, tablets and smartphones for people and institutions that need them.
Many students, schools and aspiring or existing women entrepreneurs may have the skills and ambition to use technology but lack access to an appropriate device. This project seeks to address that barrier by creating a structured pathway through which donated devices can be collected, assessed, refurbished and placed into productive use.
Rather than treating device donation simply as the transfer of equipment, FBTF will place emphasis on responsible collection, refurbishment, beneficiary selection, user orientation, follow-up and sustainability.
Through partnerships with individuals, businesses, schools, technology professionals and other organizations, devices that may no longer be required by their original owners can be given a meaningful second life while supporting education, entrepreneurship and digital inclusion.
Access to a suitable digital device can open the door to learning, work, entrepreneurship and participation in the digital economy.
Help students access digital learning resources, conduct research, develop technology skills and participate more effectively in technology-enabled education.
Support schools and learning institutions that require additional devices to facilitate teaching, learning and digital literacy activities.

Every donated device will move through a structured process intended to maximize usefulness, accountability and responsible deployment.

FBTF will launch and promote Tech for Change donation drives through online campaigns, community outreach and engagement with corporate and institutional partners. Individuals and organizations will be encouraged to donate suitable used or surplus devices that can be responsibly reused.
Collected devices will be documented and assessed to determine their physical condition, functionality, repair requirements and suitability for redistribution. Devices that cannot reasonably be refurbished will be considered for responsible recycling or appropriate e-waste handling.
FBTF will work with qualified local IT technicians, technical organizations and, where appropriate, vocational or technical institutions to repair suitable devices, securely wipe previous user data and prepare devices for productive use.
Where technically and legally appropriate, refurbished devices may be prepared with suitable operating environments and educational or productivity software to support the intended beneficiary's learning, teaching or business activities.
Devices will be distributed using defined beneficiary selection criteria. Distribution may take place directly or through trusted partner schools, community organizations and other appropriate channels.
Recipients will receive basic guidance on responsible device use, care, security and productive utilization. Where possible, beneficiaries will also be directed to appropriate technical support and maintenance options.
Refurbishment is intended to ensure that donated technology is safe, functional and suitable for productive use.
Devices will be checked for functionality, hardware condition, battery status, storage, display and other relevant components.
Previously used devices should undergo appropriate data wiping before being redistributed, helping protect the privacy of previous owners and donors.
Suitable devices will be prepared for their intended educational, institutional or business use before distribution.
Device support will be guided by defined criteria designed to prioritize genuine need and the potential for productive use. Device donation does not constitute an automatic entitlement, and availability will depend on the number, type and condition of devices received.
The project's objective goes beyond handing over a device.
Recipients can receive basic orientation on device operation, digital safety, responsible use, device care and productive utilization.
Where possible, beneficiaries can be connected to low-cost maintenance or technical support options to help extend the useful life of distributed devices.
FBTF will seek to understand whether distributed devices are being used for the intended educational or business purpose and identify emerging support needs.
Sustaining the Device Donation Project requires a continuing network of individuals, businesses and organizations willing to invest in digital inclusion. Sponsors can support the project through financial contributions, device donations, technical support, logistics and other appropriate resources.
Building a device support model that can continue beyond individual donation drives.
FBTF will encourage corporate organizations and institutional partners to provide recurring support for device procurement, refurbishment, logistics and related project activities.
Responsible refurbishment helps extend the useful life of suitable technology and allows devices that might otherwise remain unused to serve new users.
Devices that are no longer reasonably repairable should not simply be redistributed. The project promotes responsible handling and appropriate e-waste recycling practices.
