About the Project

Equipping Classrooms for Better STEM Learning

The STEM Learning Materials Support Project enhances teaching and learning outcomes in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics across basic and secondary schools. The project provides relevant learning resources and practical experiment materials while supporting teachers to use them effectively in the classroom, with particular attention to underserved communities.

Implementation Plan

From Needs Assessment to Measurable Learning Outcomes

The project follows a structured cycle of assessment, resource procurement, teacher orientation, distribution and monitoring to ensure that materials reach schools and are used effectively.

Project Phases

PHASE 1
MONTH 1

Needs Assessment

Conduct baseline assessments with District Education Offices and selected beneficiary schools. Map subject gaps and inventory existing STEM teaching and learning resources.

PHASE 2
MONTH 2

Procurement

Source textbooks, TLMs and experiment kits from vetted local publishers and suppliers while ensuring alignment with the curriculum, particularly at Primary and JHS levels.

PHASE 3
MONTHS 3–4

Teacher Orientation

Organize regional workshops to equip teachers with practical approaches for effective use of TLMs and hands-on experiment kits.

PHASE 4
MONTHS 3–4

Distribution

Deliver materials to beneficiary schools, provide teacher packs and student sets, and coordinate with school leadership for safe storage, management and use.

PHASE 5
MONTHS 5–8

Monitoring & Evaluation

Conduct classroom observations, gather teacher and student feedback, and use pre- and post-assessments to measure learning progress and the effectiveness of supported resources.

Resources Alone Are Not Enough

The project combines the provision of STEM learning materials with teacher orientation, classroom observation and learning assessment. This ensures that resources are not simply delivered to schools, but are integrated into classroom practice and used to support meaningful learning outcomes.

01 Target: 10+ schools per term

Number of schools supported through the STEM Learning Materials Support Project.

02 Target: 2,000 items annually

Number of STEM textbooks, teaching and learning materials and experiment kits distributed.

03 Target: 50+ teachers

Number of teachers trained and oriented on effective use of STEM teaching and learning materials.

04 Target: 15–20% within 6 months

Percentage improvement in STEM test scores among learners in beneficiary schools.

05 Target: 80% positive

Teacher satisfaction with the quality, relevance and usefulness of materials provided through the project.
